Supporting the health of our communities is key to our efforts at the College of Health Solutions — so important that it's central to ASU's charter. To achieve this bold mission, we work with our partners in mutually beneficial ways.
Our students, faculty and staff go beyond volunteerism and community service to leverage our expertise and resources, develop engaged and workforce-ready students, and open our doors to learning and access to services.
Children and teens enjoy fun health-oriented learning opportunities and supportive therapies at our camps and summer programs. Our programs help children experience what it’s like to be a college student, discover rewarding careers in health, learn about healthy behaviors and bring a love for health into their lives. Other programs offer assistance with speech, hearing and language needs in a friendly and fun peer-filled environment.
A revolution in medical education and care delivery, Project ECHO connects our health experts to primary care providers in rural and underserved communities across Arizona to provide training in specialty care services. Our faculty share their knowledge to amplify local capacity and address the needs of the most vulnerable patients by equipping communities with the right knowledge, at the right place, at the right time.
ASU Speech and Hearing Clinic
An on-campus clinic that provides community members with state-of-the-art professional speech, language and hearing services, the ASU Speech and Hearing Clinic gives College of Health Solutions students valuable clinical experience. More than 2,000 community members of all ages, from infants to seniors, receive services each year through our Tempe-based Speech and Hearing Clinic. Graduate students in speech-language pathology and audiology, supervised by licensed faculty, provide consultative, diagnostic and rehabilitative communication and hearing services.
Translational science aims to improve health by shortening the time between discoveries and the development of community and clinical practices, and ultimately improvements in population health. At the College of Health Solutions, Translational Teams connect university researchers and staff with clinical and community partners, industry innovators and students to conduct research that addresses community and individual health needs from the very beginning.
