Interdisciplinary Approaches to Problems of Substance Use
The key goals of the translational team are to use the expertise, partnership building and collaborative potential at the College of Health Solutions, along with the key community partners, to develop translational interdisciplinary research capacity to tackle pressing public health issues related to substance use and substance use disorders. We focus on the emerging local community needs, along with the potential expansion and application to broader national and international settings.

Raminta Daniulaityte, PhD

Associate Professor, ASU College of Health Solutions
Raminta Daniulaityte is an associate professor at the College of Health Solutions. A native of Lithuania, she completed her graduate education in anthropology and social work at the University of Alabama. She conducted her dissertation research in Guadalajara, Mexico, and can communicate in Spanish. Dr. Daniulaityte joined ASU in 2020. She has over 17 years of experience conducting substance use research, including community-based studies with individuals who use illicit opioids and other drugs, ethnographic and mixed methods research to inform epidemiology of emerging substance use trends, and web-based research to develop more effective strategies for tracking changing practices of cannabis, novel synthetic opioid and other drug use. Dr. Daniulaityte has experience in leading interdisciplinary collaborations (e.g., computer science, chemistry and forensic toxicology) to advance innovation and timeliness in substance use epidemiology research.
Ronald O’Donnell

Clinical Professor, ASU College of Health Solutions
Ronald O’Donnell is a clinical professor, psychologist and founding director of the Doctor of Behavioral Health program (2008 – 2014) in the College of Health Solutions. He is president of SunCrane Health Solutions, LLC, an international behavioral health consulting company. Dr. O'Donnell maintains a psychotherapy practice in his local community. Dr. O'Donnell is a leader in the research, education and training on global integrated behavioral health care, the use of behavioral interventions to improve both medical and psychiatric problems, such as diabetes and depression in a global context. O’Donnell has led the development of the Doctor of Behavioral Health degree curriculum and internship training program and expansion to include both clinical and health management concentrations. O’Donnell is now working on the development of international education programs for the College of Health Solutions, as well as the development of new integrated health care degrees and physician certificate education programs.
Chung Jung Mun

Assistant Professor, ASU Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation
Chung Jung Mun is an assistant professor at the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University. He directs the Biobehavioral Pain, Addiction, Sleep and Momentary Experience (Bi-PAS ME) Research Laboratory. His program of research includes investigating (1) biopsychosocial individual differences and momentary dynamics of pain processing and coping; (2) the role of sleep and circadian disturbances and cannabis and cannabinoid intake in pain and opioid use; and (3) technology-based intervention programs for chronic pain and addiction.
