Benita Barraza
Meet College of Health Solutions alumna Benita Barraza, a licensed speech-language pathology assistant who graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in speech and hearing science.
Drawn to ASU’s range of online program options, Barraza found the flexibility she was looking for while preparing for a career in speech-language pathology.
One of the most valuable skills Barraza developed while in the program was time management. Balancing full-time work with her studies taught her to navigate competing priorities, a skill she relies on in her work as a speech-language pathologist at Mercy Kids Rehab in Texas.
She said that earning her bachelor’s at ASU gave her the confidence to continue her education; Barraza is now pursuing a master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
“Never limit how far your education can take you. Whether your goal is another master’s degree, a PhD or an MD, continue learning and never be afraid to aim higher!”
