The speech-language pathology assistant certificate program prepares students to work with individuals with communication disorders, under the direction of a licensed speech-language pathologist.

Students majoring in speech and hearing science or persons already holding a bachelor's degree in speech and hearing science receive additional coursework and clinical training to be eligible for the speech-language pathology assistant licensure.

Speech-language pathology assistants work under the direction and supervision of speech-language pathologists in schools, clinics and rehabilitation agencies that provide speech and language services.
