Associate/Full Professor - Health Economics and Data Analytics

The Department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI) within the College of Health Solutions (CHS) at Arizona State University (ASU) seeks a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of tenured or tenure-track Associate or tenured Full Professor. Applicants require knowledge and skills in health economics and related quantitative techniques to support data-driven decisions in health organizations. Applicants will be expected to provide data-driven economic analyses for research on health care markets, health insurance, reimbursement schemes and related topics. The candidate will collaborate with local, national, and international health care organizations on research projects and play an important role in the further development and use of the databases in the ASU Center for Health Information & Research (CHiR), a multidisciplinary unit in the College that provides comprehensive health care information for Arizona. CHiR has served as a community resource for academia and public health research for over 15 years.

Responsibilities for this position include developing a successful research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and mentoring students in research, and providing service to the program and university as well as to the community and profession.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in economics, or a related economics or data science field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health economics and data analytics as well as experience in applications
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and securing grants:  evidence of grant submissions annually and grant awards commensurate with rank
  • Demonstrated experience conducting and publishing research:  evidence of annually published peer reviewed articles commensurate with rank
  • Demonstrated experience teaching graduate courses at the college level:  evidence of successful university teaching in-person and/or online commensurate with rank
  • For tenured positions, qualifications that meet the criteria for tenured appointment with Biomedical Informatics

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for and interest in working with, and the ability to communicate, technical information in an understandable way to large and diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated experience with data modeling for improved health outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience of collaborations with health organizations
