Healthy Lifestyles Research Center
The foods we eat provide us with energy, protein, carbohydrates, essential fats, vitamins and minerals which are all vital for our health. Eating a balanced diet is more difficult than it sounds because a variety of barriers affect our dietary choices and food availability.
Nutrition research at Arizona State University focuses on strategies to improve access, availability, and utilization of healthy foods at all ages. Innovative, ongoing nutrition research spans issues from food security locally and nationally, to diet-related behavior change strategies, to functional foods and nutritional biochemistry. The nutrition faculty use state-of-the-art methods and technologies to carry out their research with implementation at the individual, family, community and policy levels.
