Health Technology and Informatics

Health technology and informatics can reduce health care costs and improve outcomes through the use of electronic health records, clinical decision support systems, wearable health sensors, and next generation cochlear implants. Our faculty’s research leads to advances in these and other areas to facilitate:

  • clinical decision making in an effort to reduce medical errors and improve efficiency and quality of health care delivery
  • improved health care access through the use of patient online portals and telemedicine creating virtual connections between patients and clinicians
  • health behavior change and adherence to medical treatment plans by providing patients and providers with real time information
  • enhanced speech, voice, and music perceptions and overall quality of life for patients fit with cochlear implants
