Biography

Mary McMullen has been interested in the effects of nutrition on the human body since her days as a college high-jumper at the University of Washington and University of California, Davis, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in dietetics and a minor in exercise physiology.

McMullen continued studying nutrition at Arizona State University, finishing their AP4 Dietetic Program with a master's degree in nutrition, and then went on into the job market eager to help people improve their health.

Since then, she has worked in a variety of branches of health and nutrition: research, clinical, community (WIC) and education. Understanding the basic science of nutrition is, she believes, the key to ensuring not only one's own health, but assisting others, as well.

McMullen was a community college instructor for 17 years and started as a faculty associate with ASU in the fall of 2013, and was promoted to a full-time instructor in the fall of 2014. She currently keeps busy in her spare time hiking in the beautiful Southwest, preparing healthy meals, gardening, volunteering at a local high school and spending time with her family.
