Angel Tree Coordinator. Angel Tree is a program of Prison Fellowship that connects parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. This program was founded in 1982 by an ex-prisoner who witnessed firsthand the strained relationship between prisoners and their children. Angel Tree has grown to be the largest national outreach specifically for the children of prisoners. In October – December, I planned and implemented this program, overseeing volunteers and coordinating logistics. 52 children living in Flagstaff, Williams, Leup, and Cameron received gifts this Christmas. APHA calls the “school to prison pipeline” a huge public health concern and consider it a health equity issue. Angel Tree allows space to build trust so that a systems change can begin to take place and help to change the narrative.
