Making a difference in the lives of children with special needs
Kristen Lindsay received her bachelor's degree in journalism and strategic communications and went on to pursue a career in advertising. However, she soon realized her real passion is making a difference in the lives of children with special needs. She made the extremely difficult decision to resign from her advertising job and take on student loans so she could enroll in ASU's communication disorders master's program. The Carol Seaholm Tymkowych Fellowship is helping her achieve her dreams to become a speech-language pathologist for children with complex disabilities and medical conditions.
"Thank you very much for selecting me as this year's recipient of the Carol Seaholm Tymkowych Memorial Fellowship. I feel deeply honored and grateful to be chosen. The field of speech-language pathology is intensely meaningful to me, and my experience with ASU's program has been nothing short of amazing. This scholarship has meant so much to me and has allowed me the financial freedom to explore opportunities in the SLP field that I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise, including presenting at ASHA this past year. Thank you again so much from the bottom of my heart!" ~Kristen Lindsay
