Prelaw Minor
The Prelaw Minor is designed to explore the study of law from an interdisciplinary perspective. Students will take a core of classes which are reflective of courses taken by first year law students. In addition, students will select elective courses of interest, as expressed by elective subfield (see list of courses). In general, the courses selected as Prelaw Minor electives are those which: (1) enhance the students critical thinking and writing skills; (2) develop the students knowledge of the law; and (3) enhance the students understanding of the social, cultural, historical, economic, and political development of the law in our society and world.
Program Requirements
The 18 semester hour minor in Prelaw consists of 9 hours of required courses and 9 hours of elective courses. If students need any assistance with the selection of courses, they are encouraged to meet with a Student Services Specialist. Students may not count courses for both major and their Prelaw Minor degree. To graduate with the minor, students must earn a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in courses utilized for the minor. All courses must be passed with a minimum grade of C. Students are responsible for meeting course prerequisites or soliciting prerequisite waivers.
