Spring 2008 - Different Ceremonies, Both Important Experiences
The ASU Graduation Experience begins on the morning of Thursday, May 8th with Commencement, the official Graduation Ceremony in which
ASU President Michael Crow will confer degrees upon all graduates, followed by the College of Human Services Convocation the afternoon
of Thursday, May 8th, a celebratory ceremony in which students will be individually recognized by the college for their educational achievements.

7:30 - 8:30 a.m. The President's Breakfast Sun Devil Stadium, Frank Kush Field. This event is free and open to all graduating students and their guests.

9:00 a.m. ASU Commencement Ceremony Wells Fargo Arena, Tempe
12:00 p.m. Motor Coaches return to West campus
- The doors to the Wells Fargo Arena open at 8:00 a.m. No tickets are required and the event is open to the public.
- Doctoral and Bachelor Degree candidates enter through the lower west ramp. Master Degree and Juris Doctor Candidates enter through the lower east ramp. When you enter,
you will be directed to your seating area.
- All candidates are required to wear an official ASU cap and gown. These are available at the ASU bookstore (602) 543-6800.
- The ceremony will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. and will run approximately 2 hours.

- West campus has chartered motor coaches to transport students and members of their family to Commencement in Tempe on Thursday, May 8th.
- We will board the motor coaches at 7:00 a.m and will return to West campus around noon.

Graduate's To Do List
- Purchase your cap and gown at the ASU Bookstore. Eligible undergraduates who have not received their honor cords can pick them up at the Registrar's Office at the West campus. Extra honors cords and tassels will not be available at the ceremony.
- If you are planning to attend the convocation, you must call (602) 543-6610 to RSVP by April 15, 2008. You must also reserve (RSVP) your guest tickets before pickup. You may pick up your RESERVED tickets beginning (not before) Thursday, April 17 through Monday, May 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the College of Human Services' reception area in the FAB building, first floor. Please request only those tickets that will be used. Photo ID is required at the time of pickup.
- Bring your two name cards to the ceremony. Please fill out the address portion of the cards. One card will be given to the person announcing names at the ceremony. The other will be given to Chappell Studios which will be taking photos that day.
- You should ask your guests to carry your personal items. Don't forget to provide your guests with parking and ceremony times and location.

Graduation Ceremony Instructions
- Graduates must arrive by 1:00 p.m. to check in at the East Lobby. Graduates do not need tickets.
- If the graduate does not have his/her name cards, the graduate can ask for cards from the check-in volunteer. The graduate will make sure his/her name is spelled correctly on each card and the address portion is filled out on each card. Print clearly. Add phonetic marks if necessary. One card will be given to the photographer for an optional photo. Keep the second card. The graduate will give it to the Faculty Marshal, who will read the name as the graduate cross the stage.
- Graduates need to line up according to their major.
- Staff will notify the graduates when to line up by the stage.
- Graduates will walk up to the stage and present their card to the faculty marshal, receive their diploma cover, shake hands with the Dean and others (with your right hand), and cross the stage.
Return to your seat.
- Ceremony ends approximately 3:30 p.m.
- Please make arrangements with your guests to meet at a designated spot following the ceremony.
Guest Information
- Doors open to the public at 1:00 p.m. No guests allowed in the graduate line-up area.
- Make sure your guests have their tickets.
- There is an ample free adjacent parking with great access in & out of the venue. To see a map or driving directions, please visit
http://www.maricopacountyeventscenter.com/. Carpooling is recommended.
- ASU's West campus and the Maricopa County Events Center are not responsible for lost/stolen items.
- Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the facility. Any items that interfere with the ceremony will be confiscated.
- Guests with special needs should also go to the Information table for assistance.
- Balloons and glass vases are not allowed inside the venue.
- ASU college alumni chapters will be selling flowers and the ASU bookstore will be open to sell graduation gift items.
