MACJ Admission Requirements

Admission to the MACJ program is governed by the requirements specified by the Graduate College at Arizona State University.  In addition to the basic requirements established by the Graduate College, the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice requires the following:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an institution with regional accreditation.
  • An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 is required for unconditional admission to the MACJ program. Applicants whose GPA is less than 3.0 but who show promise of success (as demonstrated by letters of recommendation and/or professional experience) may be admitted provisionally.
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty members or others qualified to evaluate the applicant's potential for graduate study.
  • A personal statement, not exceeding five pages, that describes the applicant's prior education, relevant professional experience, and career goals.
  • Applicants who intend to apply for a graduate assistantship must also submit an application for a graduate assistantship
  • International students seeking admission to the program must meet ASU Graduate Faculty requirements governing the admission of international students.

NOTE: Scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are not required for admission to the MACJ program.

Admission decisions are made as soon as all of the application materials have been received.  The deadline for submission of application materials for the MACJ program is June 1 for fall semester and November 1 for spring semester.
